Previous Commissions

Before the Equality and Human Rights Commission was set up, there were three equality commissions: the Commission for Racial Equality (CRE), the Disability Rights Commission (DRC) and the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC). These were merged into the new Commission in October 2007.

Archive materials

Our website hosts information on all of the issues previously covered by the legacy commissions. We have incorporated much of the material that used to be available on those sites into this site. However, not all of the previous content was transferred for reasons of volume as well as recency.

We made frozen copies of the legacy sites available for the first two years of the new Commissions life, but these are now no longer accessible to the public.

If you require access to resources that you know used to be available on one of the legacy websites please contact us at [email protected] and we will try to retrieve it for you.

The more details you can provide about the item the more likely we will be to find it, for example: which of the Commissions; the page or publication title; topic; approximate date; or a description of the kind of content (an example might be: lesson plans for teachers on tackling racism that could be downloaded from the CRE website in 2006). If you have a url (page address) on record or that you may have saved into your favourites please provide this as it will be very helpful in identifying the piece of information.
