The Wales Committee

The 2006 Equality Act established the Wales Committee as a decision making body with duties and powers to advise devolved government; develop a work programme and ensure the Commission’s work is appropriate to Wales. They set the strategic direction of the Commission's work in Wales.

Ann Beynon Ann Beynon OBE is the Commissioner for Wales and chairs our Wales Committee, supported by the National Director for Wales. Ann is also the Director for BT in Wales.
Aled Edwards Rev Aled Edwards OBE is Chief Executive of CYTÛN (Churches Together in Wales).

Sophie Howe is the Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner for South Wales and has specific responsibility for violent crime, violence against women and girls, substance misuse, equality and victims services.

Marie Navarro Marie Brousseau-Navarro is regarded as a world leading expert on Welsh Law and Devolution and is Managing Director of Your Legal Eyes.
Nicola Williams Williams is General Counsel and Company Secretary for Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water, a post she has held since 2012. Prior to this role, she was a Partner in an international law firm dealing with litigation and dispute resolution, with a focus on advising businesses and public bodies on regulatory/public law and equality issues. Nicola has a long-standing interest in equalities and human rights issues.
Mona Bayoumi Mona Bayoumi is a Barrister specialising in Human Rights and Asylum & Immigration based at the Civitas Law Chambers.
Saleem Kidwai Saleem Kidwai OBE is Secretary General for the Muslim Council for Wales, an Honorary Fellow of Cardiff University and a qualified accountant.

Andrew Edwards is a teaching fellow at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David and also serves on several boards following a career within the police service.

Dilys Jouvenat Dilys Jouvenat has vast experience of working in the public sector and is currently the Equality & Diversity Manager for Rhondda Cynon Taf Council.
