Migrants to Wales – What about Human Rights?

Reverend Aled Edwards (Chief Executive of Cytun, Secretary of the Interfaith Council for Wales and a member of the Commission’s Wales Committee) will be delivering the EHRC 2016 human rights lecture.

The lecture will explore the experience of Asylum Seekers, Migrants and Refugees and the key human rights challenges for Wales.

Autumn Equality and Human Rights Exchange Events

On 27th October 2015 we launched our Strategic Plan consultation for the period 2016-19. The Commission is required under the Equality Act 2006 to consult on and publish a strategic plan every three years.
We want to hear how our draft strategic objectives resonate with members of our Equality and Human Rights Exchange Network members and those from the third sector and how we can work together to move the equality and human rights agenda forward in Wales. We are interested in your views on the Strategic Plan and what you see as the most helpful role for the Equality and Human Rights Commission in Wales.

Is Wales Fairer? Conference

On Wednesday the 8th July 2015 our ‘Is Britain Fairer?’ stakeholder conference was held in Treforest. It formed a vital stage in the process of shaping and finalising our report on progress towards equality and human rights in Wales.

Today, the Equality and Human Rights Commission Wales, in partnership with Cardiff University, is holding its Annual Human Rights Lecture. It will explore the impact of negative attitudes and hostility towards Muslim people and the relationship between discrimination and human rights.
